Shenley Brook End School
Jez is a Deputy Headteacher with over eight years experience in Senior Leadership and Management, including teaching and learning, curriculum and student progress (data), and was formerly a Head of Performing Arts. He led the transition in his school to a 2-year KS3 and 3-year KS4 curriculum structure, and has supported colleagues from several local schools to develop their student tracking systems. He has particular interests in school improvement, creative teaching and learning strategies and international education.
Jez has spoken at a national level on “moving beyond outstanding” and “making outstanding progress”. He is involved in developing an alternative, comprehensive baccalaureate model through the Head Teachers’ Round Table and Whole Education, and has coached leaders from schools nationally on curriculum issues. He is a Teacher Advocate for the Teaching Agency, having spoken to university students on many occasions on the topic “What makes a good teacher?” and is currently involved in developing the work of the Leadership and Training Centre at Shenley Brook End school.
Jez was a staff governor for 5 years at a high-performing secondary school in Oxford. He works closely with governors in his current role, and is experienced in leading School Effectiveness and Teaching, Learning and Community governors' meetings. He has led governor training on a range of areas including teaching and learning, school improvement, the use of data and Ofsted.
