Headteacher - Loughton Manor First School
Lizzie, an experienced first school Headteacher, LLE and primary practitioner, has been in leadership since 1990 and has taught in Milton Keynes for more than thirty five years. Loughton Manor First School opened as a new school in 1997 with Lizzie as its Head, since when it has become one of Milton Keynes most successful schools, gaining Outstanding status in December 2010. The school is an infant school, with Nursery class provision, and is expanding to become three form entry in September 2013 with creation of a new, purpose built Foundation Stage Unit. It holds the Basic Skills Agency’s Quality Mark 10 Year award, and is an Investor in People.
As well as school leadership and management, Lizzie’s specialisms are Music Education and Early Years. She has contributed to the rich provision of music education for young people in Milton Keynes for many years, and as a young teacher worked for Milton Keynes Music Service’s Saturday school, as well as being Music subject manager and year group leader in a large primary school. She continues to teach music regularly, conducts children’s choirs, and undertakes voluntary work with children and adult learners in brass bands.
Lizzie has undertaken consultancy work and led INSET training for the Local Authority on many occasions, particularly in supporting the Early Years Foundation Stage, but also in connection with Monitoring and Evaluation, and during the process of remodelling the workforce. Lizzie trained and qualified as a team inspector for 0FSTED in 2003, undertaking inspections on an occasional basis until 2009. Unusually, this included inspecting a school in Connecticut, in the USA, which brought a new perspective to the role.
